\nConvert the following into like fractions
\n(i) \\(\\frac{1}{4}, \\frac{3}{8}\\)
\nAnswer:
\nAs 8 is twice 4, make 8 the common denominator.
\n\\(\\frac{1}{4}=\\frac{1 \\times 2}{4 \\times 2}=\\frac{2}{8}\\)
\nThus \\(\\frac{2}{8}\\) and \\(\\frac{3}{8}\\) are the required like fractions.<\/p>\n

(ii) \\(\\frac{2}{5}, \\frac{1}{7}\\)
\nAnswer:
\nThe number 35 is a multiple of both 7 and 5
\n\\(\\frac{2}{5}=\\frac{2 \\times 7}{5 \\times 7}=\\frac{14}{35}\\)
\n\\(\\frac{1}{7}=\\frac{1 \\times 5}{7 \\times 5}=\\frac{5}{35}\\)

\nAs 10 is twice 5, make 10 the common denominator
